Community Events CalendarCommunity Event: Lake County Kids Safety Day
Lake County Kids Safety Day is a free family event sponsored by the Lake County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect since 2015.
The day includes free lunch and booths where families can learn about health and safety topics, and receive different safety items, such as life jackets. It’s not all about education though! The booths also offer activities kids can play to earn a prize.
In 2024, kids who attended could win a bike by participating in a bike obstacle course. Kids who took on the challenge received a ticket to place in the bucket next to the bike they wanted to win. At the end of the day, one raffle ticket was drawn from each bucket, declaring the winner of a shiny new bicycle either donated or purchased with funds from community members and businesses.
Below are 10 of the 20 winners with their new bikes!
- 150 bags of veggies
- 100 first aid kids
- 50 water bottles
- 50 smoke alarms
- 37 bike reflectors
- 34 bike helmets
- 33 life jackets
- 30 carbon monoxide detectors
- 25 fire extinguishers
- 15 gun locks
- 9 car seats
- More sunblock and fun things than we can count!
